Uncle Jim (as I've called him all my life)was a brother to my mom (Annie Elizabeth Colp)Whom has passed as well June 15th 2006 and buried between their mom & dad in Czar.This is the man that as a little tike taught me and my brother's how to get on and ride bareback on a horse.He taught us that if you can do that then we'd get a saddle.We we're not allowed to cheat by getting the horse to line-up at the fence so we could just jump on.(He always knew when we cheated. LOL) Going to the farm at Christmas was great the best part was when Aunty Elise would tell Jim to hook the sleigh to the Old Black Team and we'd get to go for a ride.
Every summer we kid's took turn's spending a few week's on the farm,thats when we lived in Edmonton and Jim would call us "A Bunch of City Slicker's." He taught us how to take care of the Farm animal's.How to drive the Tracter.Haying season was fun.Jim and neighbor's would get together and bail someones Hay if not his own.At Lunch time all the women had sandwichs,cakes,cookies and coffee waiting for us.
When I was 16 yr's we had a gathering at the Grave site in Czar.I at 16 yr's thought this was going to be a drag.Then after a bit more and more people showed up.The gathering was to clean-up the grave's and put some flower's on those that didn't have family.It wasn't a Drag.I met alot of people there that day and learned alot about my Family(COLP).And then again everyone brought something racks,shovels,lawn morers and another potluck lunch.
I could go on with many more stories about Potato water and Jim spitting his tobacco.The last time I saw Jim was when I stayed there with my dad for the Furneral of my mom in 2006.That was the last hug.
I miss calling you on your birthday and at christmas/new years.I'am Thankful that you got to teach my kid's something's.Love you always and a Merry Christmas.
