Charlotte Marie Austin was born in her family home near Cadogan, Alberta on August 2, 1939 to parents, Orval and Bernice McNalley. Charlotte's parents farmed northwest of Cadogan in the Twin Lake district where Charlotte and her brother attended the country school. Later she attended school in Cadogan then graduated high school in Provost.
Charlotte worked for the Provost Municipal District and married Don Austin on October 21, 1960. Together they had three children, Duane, Dixie† and Deanna.
They first lived in Provost then a short time in Wainwright, moved back to Provost and then made their final move to the farm in 1965. Charlotte raised her family, tended her garden, raked hay in the meadow and hauled grain during harvest. Besides helping on the farm, Charlotte worked for the Optometrist and afterwards in the Medical Clinic part time.
Charlotte spent 53 years on the farm prior to being admitted to the hospital in August 2018. She resided in the nursing home for seven weeks and after enduring a lengthy illness slipped quietly on December 2, 2018 at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 79 years. Finally free, finally at peace.
Charlotte will be forever missed by her husband, Don; children, Duane (Sandra) and Deanna (Jamie); grandchildren, Dixie (Kirby Massey), Darby, Blake, Justin, Jesse (Cassy), Jayden and Jori; great grandchildren, Cheyenne Charlotte, Rhea, Huxon, Casey and Austyn Marie; as well as numerous relatives and close friends.
