Obituary of Frans Johannes Beyer
Please share a memory of Frans to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frans Johannes Beyer (Johan) was born in Pretoria, South Africa, on June 6 1977, to Eric and Elrina Beyer. Johan and his sister Jackie grew up in Pretoria and attended Waterkloof Highschool where Johan excelled as a student.
His keen and outstanding intellect saw him stand out as top student in his class at the University of Pretoria where he studied Theology, and later, switched to Psychology and Pastoral Therapy.
Johan met his partner, Riaan in 2007 and they spent 9 wonderful years together before Riaan's sudden passing in 2016. Johan's family, who are in the process of immigrating to Canada, was working on helping Johan to come to Canada to complete this Master's Degree in Psychology.
Johan was passionate about helping and supporting people of the LGBT community and he guided and supported countless friends though difficult times. He loved the Kruger National Park and his favourite place was the Rocky Mountains, which he was able to see in his late travels to Canada.
During the last year of his life, Johan spent most of his time in Canada with his family and best friend Linda. Johan had a wonderful sense of humour and loved laughing with his sister and Linda over non-sense jokes and stories. He shared a deep understanding and bond with his mother in their shared fight with Bi-Polar disorder, and he saw his father as his hero and role model.
Johan passed away on December 15, 2018. He will be missed, every day, by his parents, his sister, his best friend Linda, and his countless friends and family in Canada and South Africa.
