Please share a memory of Paulina to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Pauline 'Polly' Biever of Provost, Alberta passed away peacefully at the Provost Health Centre-Long Term Care on June 16, 2012 at the age of 87 years. Born Paulina Stang on August 30, 1924 and raised near Primate, Saskatchewan, she was the second oldest daughter of 14 children born to Reinhold and Josephine Stang of Primate, Saskatchewan. In 1944 she met and married Herbert Biever. They took up homesteading in the Rosenheim District and had two daughters Iola (Jim) Lemon of Provost and Priscilla McPherson of Revelstoke, BC. In 1948 they left their farm home and moved to Edmonton, Alberta. While living in Edmonton sons, Dwayne (Julie) of Hudson Hope, B.C. and Brian (Cathy) of Tumbler Ridge, B.C. were born. Daughter Deborah (Barry) MacLeod of White Fox, Saskatchewan was also born in Edmonton. Polly and Herbert moved back to their newly built home in Provost in 1958 where she was kept busy raising and adding to their family. Sons Claude (Donna) of Cranbrook, B.C. and Randy (Kevin) of Edmonton and Jody (Tracey) of Provost were born during that time. Sadly in 1974 her husband of 30 years died suddenly. Shortly after she entered the work force and worked at the Provost Motor Inn. In her earlier years she was a member of the CWL and the Kinette Club. She loved to play bingo, curl, listen to music, play Bunco and get together with friends to bake, cook , can or play cards. She loved family visits. In her later years she loved to visit with family, watch hockey and curling games on television, tatting, work on crosswords, puzzles and keep up with the antics of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved thunderstorms, butter tarts, hearing the Meadowlarks sing and gently teasing the little ones. She was always interested and attentive to everything that was going on around her. She lived in her home until her health declined in January 2011 when she moved into the Long Term Care facility. Polly leaves to mourn her passing her eight children, their spouses, 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; brother, sisters, nephews, nieces, and a host of relatives and friends.
