Obituary of Margaret “Frances” Rampling

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret Frances Rampling was born on November 7th, 1927 in Provost, Alberta. Frances was the eldest child of Francis Joseph (Pat) and Sarah Schumacher. Although her birth certificate reads November 7th, Fran always maintained her actual birth date was November 6th and loved the idea of having two days to celebrate each year. Fran grew up in Provost and lovingly referred to Provost as her home town all of her life. She loved music, dancing, friends and family. After high school she moved to Edmonton and studied as an administrative assistant. She then began a long and successful career with General Electric. Fran was very proud of her contributions to the company and spoke highly of her colleagues and friends at work. She was a dedicated employee and remained with the company until her retirement. Fran enjoyed her retirement years with trips to Hawaii, Switzerland, Ottawa, Mexico, cruises and a lot of family get togethers in Provost, Vulcan, Edmonton, and High River. She loved being with friends and family. No one could 'camp' with such style as Aunt Fran, in her pencil skirt and high heels! Fran travelled with friends to many cities to enjoy the music of her favorite band, The Emeralds. She would sing and dance to all of their songs! Another passion of Fran's was playing cards and games! She played a wicked game of Bridge and was always open to learning any new game. In earlier years, Fran was an avid curler, winning numerous trophies. She enjoyed watching many sports, especially curling, football and hockey. Family meant the world to Frances. She was the fun, energetic, unique Aunt to her Nine nieces and nephews. Along with their parents, children and grandchildren, these were Fran's "people". They will fondly remember her smile, her giggle, her "Frantastic" ways of making us all laugh. She truly treasured every moment she spent with them. Frances passed away peacefully on February 22, 2019 at the Jasper Place Care Centre in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 91 years. Frances was a loving daughter, sister, and Aunt. Left to cherish her memory is her brother, Larry (Clara) Schumacher of Edmonton; sister, Shirley Gatenby of Vulcan; nephews, Brian (Barb) Schumacher of Sylvan Lake; Allan (Janet) Gatenby of Edmonton; David (Brenna) Schumacher of Madden; Patti (Bruce) Jones of Brooks; Barbara (Gary) Kellock of High River; Marilyn (Jean Pierre) Deblue of Founex, Switzerland; Janet (Jerry) Tryhuba of Edmonton; Leanne (Sheldon) Anderson of Vulcan; Lori (Nick) Nikiforuk of Edmonton; Ten great nieces, Fifteen great nephews, Five great great nieces and nephews, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Pat and Sarah Schumacher; and brother-in-law, Ken Gatenby.
