I have so many memories of my auntie stretching back to the fifties when I was a small boy and our family would go out to the farm near Cactus Lake on the weekends and during summer holidays. I loved going out to the farm because I knew Auntie Chris had baked treats and goodies and boy was she a good cook, the best (sorry mom). She also was a excellent gardener. She had a huge garden, everything from calorabes to raspberries to numerous crab apple trees so as you guessed lots of garden raiding was going on when I was there. I loved going into the raspberry patch and eat raspberries till my tummy ached. Auntie never scolded me because she knew I would pay for it later in the outdoor toilet. I would also help in the garden. Auntie would give us gallon tomatoes cans with a little diesel fuel in and our job was to pick the potato beetles off the plants and put them into the can, it always was a competition to see who got the most beetles. On another occasion on a sadder note I remember us kids had set up a high jump stand and were practicing jumping. That was before the Fosbury Flop more like the scissors jump, any way it was only a foot or two high and Auntie saw us and came out of the house and said she would try so over she went in perfect scissor form but the landing wasn't so good and she landed with a thud in excruciating pain. Uncle Art had to rush her to Kerrobert Hospital and it turned out she had gotten a blood clot in a major artery in her leg but she survived never to high jump again. To end on a humerus note I remember on the farm yard they hard an old wind mill that I believe generated 36 volts of DC electricity. Anyway on this day when Deb and me were young kids, pre-school I believe, mom and dad and Uncle Art and Auntie Chris were sitting around the kitchen table talking when mom happened to look out the kitchen window and exclaimed "Chris your daughter has climbed half way up the windmill. Auntie Chris jumped up and looked out the window and calmly said "that's nothing your son is at the top". Shortly after that Uncle Art took the old windmill down. My beloved Auntie I will truly miss her. She was a kind loving women always ready to do anything for you especially feed you with her excellent foods. It was only a little more than a week ago that we texted each other, it was so sudden. She just mentioned she she felt tired and no energy. No more pain Auntie. Dwight Fruson
