Obituary of Hilda Kreiser
Please share a memory of Hilda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hilda was 8 years old when her mom died. By 1938 she struggled through three years of a "frontier" education in the rural Ferris Public School, East of Makwa, Saskatchewan. This was the year her father died and she was adopted by her uncle and aunt, John and Sabina Riegert, and moved to Canwood, Saskatchewan. Here she attended the rural Boro Green Public School for grades three to eight and continued in Park Valley Public School when the family moved to Park Valley district in 1943. In 1945 her adopted family moved once more, this time to a farm in the Macklin district of Saskatchewan. Hilda remained at home and helped with the work on the farm. Hilda married Arnold Kreiser on July 4, 1948. After they married they struck out on their own. They bought two sections of land six miles south of Cadogan, here they set up a mixed farming operation; a place they called home for the next forty years. They had eight children and a lot of hard work. They sold a half section of land in 1990, moved to Cadogan and built a house. Arnold passed away in the fall of 1996. Hilda lived in her house until 2009. She then lived in the lodge for awhile then moved to long term care in Provost where she passed away.
Hilda leaves to mourn her children: Kathy Tennant (Brian); Rick Kreiser (Diane); Fred Kreiser (Chris); Stan Kreiser; Dwayne Kreiser; Murray Kreiser (Deb); Keith Kreiser (Dawn); daughter-in-law Yvonne Kreiser; 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her stepbrother: Robert Knoll (Marie); stepsister: Ella Goodin (Ivan)
Hilda was predeceased by her husband Arnold Kreiser and son Lorne Kreiser
