Our Lord took Leona Kjos home on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the age of 91 to be reunited with the loved ones that went on before her.
Leona Kells was born at Hardisty Alberta to Robert and Charlotte Kells on April 15, 1919. She had 4 brothers John, Norman ,Leslie and Roy and two sisters Vivian (Hampshire) and Virginia (Patterson) .
While traveling via train from Edmonton to Hardisty , Leona met her future husband, Clifford Kjos, a slender young man who was in the Air Force . He had the bluest , kindest eyes, a quick smile and a teasing personality and he fell in love with this lovely lady with curly, auburn hair , twinkling eyes and irrestible dimples. And he later found out she could cook too.. !
On February 12, 1944 Leona and Clifford were married.
After WWII they bought his parent's farm (ten miles from Provost) and this is where they raised their 4 children , Lenard, Sylvia. Robert, and Linda.
On August 12,1958 Clifford was killed in car/train crash and Leona continued running the farm.. Leona's heart was shattered but she knew she had to struggle on for the sake of the children. Leona worked hard to accomplish every challenge and she did it with charm and dignity. She was known for her great cooking and her passion to make sure everyone had enough to eat. No body left Leona's hungry!
Leona also worked at the Provost bakery for 13 years.,
Good friends and family were a blessing and she always had time to put the coffee pot on and make sure the cookies were on the table.
She enjoyed reading , especially her Bible, talking to her dear friends and family on the phone and watching the news on TV.
In later years Leona sold the farm to her sons and resided in a mobile home on the farm until July 1, 2009 when she moved into the Hillcrest Lodge and then to the Nursing Home in March 2010 .
