Obituary of Edgar Albert Mason

Please share a memory of Edgar to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dad was born in Spy Hill, SK to A.J. (Bert) Mason and Clara Moore. He grew up on a farm 10 miles north of Luseland. His dad was awarded the World Wheat King many times and was an avid gardener. Dad was predeceased by his wife Ethel in 1998, his two sisters Winnie and Violet. Dad has one brother Leonard, who resides in Powel River British Columbia. Dad married Ethel Mary Land from the Grass Lake district of Luseland in 1939. He served over seas in the Royal Canadian Dragoons in the Second World War. They had 12 wonderful children. In 1952, Dad and Mom packed the family up and moved to Macklin. Dad had many occupations including furnace installer and repair man, drayman, CPR Railway, hog, cattle and grain farmer. Dad had many hobbies fishing, berry picking, cribbage player and of course beer drinking. Dad had many passions in life his beloved children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many pets. He had a love for sports especially hockey, football, and baseball. My sister Norma and I will always remember Saturday night hockey and the play offs, Rider football and the grey cup, and dancing with the stars. Dad had a love of camping and dragging all us kids and as many neighbors kids that he could fit into the old station wagon or truck. We would set off for the nearest lake almost every Sunday in the summer months. This was so he could sit in the shade of an old tree, drink his beer and finally have some peace and quiet as all us kids burned off our energy swimming in the lake. Dad and Mother loved to dance. I can remember when I was a little girl; my dad had me stand on his feet and would dance me around the kitchen. You could always count on passing by the bar in the afternoon and seeing the scooter parked by the door and a little head through the window. Dad was mad when he got his new scooter because it did not go as fast. He did not know how he would make it to the bar in the winter because it had no pissin power. Or as we recall, Grandmas favorite saying when asked where grandpa is? And her reply was "over town". Dad always had a beard and would not let anyone touch it but Inez Thomas. Once she passed away, he said no one is touching this beard. Until, Charlene got a hold of him and told him how it was going to be. He always listened to the boss. We all have our fishing stories about Dad but as fishing stories go, they grow over time. As Dad would say well girls it's 11:00 its time to go to bed. Dad died suddenly at home on May 16th of a good old age of 92. He has finally taken his own advice and has gone to bed. Rest in peace Dad. Edgar will be forever loved and missed by his 10 children, Eric(Evelyn) Mason, Bob(Glenda) Mason, Fred(Charlene) Mason, Clifford Mason, Ronald Mason, Laura Gardiner, Charlotte(Dale) Strandlund, Pat(Gary) Frehlich, Norma Mason, Lois(John) Straw, Jo-An Mason, & Louis Mason; Grandchildren, Meloni, Curtis, Marni, Shane, Michelle, Paul, Kevin, Jarvis, Robin, Sean, Carmella, Chantal; Great Grandchildren, Chance, Cole, Mylan, Adin, Chantelle, Christopher, Jarvis, Leanne, ToniLyn, Tyra, Jorden & Amber.
