Obituary of Eugenie Luise Dalrymple

Please share a memory of Eugenie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eugenie Luise Walaska was born in a small homestead shack, located south-east of Provost, on July 22nd, 1913. She was the eldest of the four children of Eduard and Marie Walaska, who had come from Moravia, Austria to farm in the Rosenheim district. She attended Rosenheim country school (1/2 mile across the field), then boarded in Provost for High School (10 miles from home), after which she travelled much further afield--all the way to Camrose--for normal school training. In 1935, Genie married Wallace (Wally) Dalrymple, and together they farmed in the Hokenheim district and continued to raise Wally's four children--Edith, George, Elmo and Roger--whose mother had previously passed away. Into this family were born two more children, Angela and Lorne. In 1945, Wally and Genie moved into the Town of Provost, where they enjoyed many happy years before Wally's death in May, 1971. Genie remained in the house Wally had built for them until moving to the Provost Lodge in December, 1999. During her whole lifetime, Genie responded to beauty wherever she found it -In a piece of music, a sunset, or a well-constructed sentence. She was meticulous in her work as assistant postmaster for 22 years; she was intensely loyal to the people she loved; and she endeavored always to "do the right thing". She will be remembered with love by those who survive her--Lorne (Beth), Angela, Roger (Marietta) and their families; sister, Marie (Sr. M. Callista); brother, Arnim (Pat) and their family; as well as an extended community of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Hertha. She served her Lord with faithfulness, reverence and love. And so we say: "Precious in the sight of the Lord Is the death of his saints." (Ps. 116:15)
