Obituary of John Bobryk

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John Bobryk was born June 24, 1924 in Buderuz, Poland to Harry and Yewdokija Bobryk. He emigrated to Canada with his family when he was six years old. His family homesteaded in Foxford, Saskatchewan where he worked hard helping his family. At the age of 17 he lied about his age and enlisted in the army. He was assigned to the Lake Superior Regiment and served overseas. When he was seriously wounded in battle he was flown to England for necessary surgery and subsequent recovery. Upon his return to Canada he worked in the Czar area which led to a farm purchase there. John worked hard to clear the land of rocks and weeds and with determination and hard work the land became productive. In 1954 John married Flora Ann MacIntyre and in1956 they were blessed with a daughter, Bonnie Louise. In addition to working full-time at farming, he volunteered with Unifarm, was an UFA delegate for 25 years, and a member of the IOOF for many years. Fishing and animals—particularly loving his horses, Dolly and Goldie, and his dog, Blue, were joys of Johns. His love of reading was diverse in subject matter which was evidenced by a stack of books, magazines and newspapers beside his favorite chair. Watching sports was an enjoyable pastime for John, especially hockey, baseball, and curling. John will be dearly missed by his daughter, Bonnie and her sons, Jonathan and Andrew; brothers, Jake and Peter; sister, Anne; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. John was predeceased by sister, Mary.
