Obituary of Irene Trenerry

Please share a memory of Irene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Irene Mary Trenerry was born on March 8, 1938 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta to Ron & May Watts.  As an only child, she grew up helping her parents on the farm.

When she met Wilfred Trenerry, she immediately knew he was the one. They were married on September 24, 1955.  Wilf & Irene were blessed with 3 children, Wendy (April 1956), Dallas (December 1957) and Ross (June 1959). Dallas passed away in 2007.

Ross & Wendy fondly remember longs walks into town from the acreage in Ponoka, Alberta, collecting bottles along the way. As kids, Wanda & Wes enjoyed many sleepovers at Grandma & Grandpa’s, where boiled hot dogs and macaroni and cheez whiz was always on the menu.

Mom loved her dogs and was never without one or two in over 50 years.  Countless hours were spent camping, fishing and at rodeos through the years.  Grandma loved to knit and always had an endless supply of dishcloths for all of us.  Despite her failing eyesight, Mom continued to play cards and bowl until her health prevented it. Even as her health declined, mom approached each challenge with her feisty attitude and determination.

Irene passed away peacefully on June 11, 2019 at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 81 years.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Wilf; children, Wendy (Wayne) Ganser, Ross (Debbie) and †Dallas (Sandy); eight grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and relatives.

Mom loved her family and was extremely proud of her kids and grandkids. We loved her so much we will miss her deeply.

A private family burial has taken place at the Metiskow Cemetery.
