Obituary of Allan H. Thompson

Allan Harris Thompson was the first child born to Ansel & Florence (Moncrieff) in Provost, Alberta on September 5, 1934. Two years later his sister, Shirley, joined them to make their family complete. Allan's grandparents immigrated from Arlington, South Dakota. They established a homestead on SW28-037-01W4 and sent for the rest of their family to file for more land. The present farmstead is now 102 years old and is home to the sixth generation. Allan married Diane Sonmor from Loverna, Saskatchewan. To this union five children were born. Allan was always very proud of his family, their accomplishments and enjoyed the playful times he had with them and his grandchildren. Allan was home cared by his loving family and local health care providers until the last few hours of his life. Surrounded by his family he passed away on August 22, 2012 at the age of 77 years. He is now resting in peace in God's hands. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife, of 51 years, Diane; children, Daryl, Dale (Marcy), Karen (Frank) Stang, Leanna, and Myra (Glen) Platz; grandchildren, Daniel (Amber), Jenny, William, Julia, Wyatt, Barrett, Stefani, Bradley, Tyler, Cody, Cassidy, and Jayden; great-grandchild, Ryan; sister, Shirley Dallyn; niece and nephew, Evelyn Roethlingschofer and Brent Dallyn; as well as many extended relatives and friends.
