Catherine (Cathy) Stuart was born in Provost on July 17, 1954, to Jacqueline (Jackie) Hovde and Stanley (Stan) Hovde of Hughenden, Alberta.
Cathy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be forever missed. She was her family’s foundation as well as the source of their strength and courage. For decades, Cathy has been a caregiver, not just to her own family, but also to her community. She was drawn to employment where she could care for those who needed it, be it disabled individuals or youth who needed guidance - she was there, and she loved it.
After a year-long battle with cancer, Cathy passed in the company of her family on November 11, 2019 at the age of 65 in Rivercrest Hospice Center in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Stuart (Corey Ruttledge), Pamela Stuart (Shawn Cooper) and Christopher Stuart (Catherine); her grandchildren, Lance Dunsmore (Renea Leighton), Kaylea Dunsmore, Steven Stuart-Smith, Siobhan Cooper, Brynn Cooper, Ava Stuart and Everly Stuart; her great-grandchild, Kashus Dunsmore; her sisters, Sandra Wills, Debbie (Les) Miller, Sharon (Greg) Waltham, Julianne (Stephen) Clark; and her brothers, John (Patti) Hovde, Dwayne (Ronda) Hovde, Jeffrey (Wendy) Hovde, Darrin Hovde, and Billy Joe (Lisa) Hovde; her honorary grand-daughter Melissa Feldman; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbours.
Cathy was predeceased by her mother and father, Jacqueline and Stanley Hovde; her sisters, Carolyn Hovde and Cindy Grant; brother-in-law Grant Wills; her niece, Shelly Wills; and her nephews, Clinton Wills and Colby Hovde.
A private family service will be held in honor of Cathy.
