Obituary of Albert Lawrence Jickling

Albert was born to Lawrence and Alice Jickling on February 27, 1930 in Provost, Alberta. He and his three siblings, Roger, Mildred and Ruby were raised on a farm in the EyeHill district south of Provost. In April of 1940, the family moved to the farm north of Cadogan, where Dave and his family now reside. Albert met Avis Thorp, who had come to Cadogan from Hardisty to teach school and they married in 1956 and two children, David and Alison joined the family. Albert continued to farm at Cadogan and deliver the mail on the rural route, as well. In 1985, Albert semi-retired from farming and they moved into Cadogan. Avis passed away in 2005, and Albert moved into the Hillcrest Lodge in Provost soon after. He still continued to deliver the mail until 2013 retiring after 59 ½ years of service. He resided in Provost – Long Term Care from 2015 until his passing. Albert passed away peacefully at the Provost Health Centre – Long Term Care on December 28, 2019 at the age of 89 years. He is survived by his son, David (Brenda) Jickling; daughter, Alison (David) Betz; grandchildren, Christopher Jickling (Kourtney Hronek), Carrie Jickling, Jill (Mike) Schmidt and Aaron (Jessie) Betz; great grandchildren, Hudson Schmidt, Olivia Schmidt and Bowden Betz; and sister, Mildred Chrysler of Kamloops, British Columbia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Albert was predeceased by his wife, Avis; brother, Roger Jickling; sister, Ruby Clifford; brother and sister in-laws, Ron Clifford, Brian Chrysler, Ing and Joyce Johnsrud, George and Dorothy Krozser, Jack and Louise Thorp.
