Please share a memory of Owen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Owen Ivel McDonald born to Edna and Graham McDonald in Selkirk Manitoba on January 1, 1957. Living every day of his life like it was New Year’s Eve. Owen grew up on an acreage in Clandeboye, MB with his parents, his brother, Gary, his two sisters, Lois & Susie, and many fun loving Aunts, Uncles and cousins who enjoyed music and adventure just as much as he did. With a love for all animals, especially cats (this might explain his 9 lives), you could find Owen bringing home wounded roadside animals (mostly raccoons) for mom to fix up or trapping/catching animals with his ma and his best friend, Lawrie. There was always a story to tell when they returned home. One time there were baby skunks and Nana wasn’t going home empty handed, this led to him and Lawrie jumping into the closet body of water to get away from a very mad mama skunk. With a Gypsy soul, and more love in his heart than he knew what to do with, Owen found his way to Alberta, alongside his sisters (his Alberta mamas). He worked as a heavy equipment operator, until he could work no more. He gave his whole heart to Heather and their two daughters, Trish and Tara as well as their brother Wesley; to Nicole and their sweet girl Kathryn; and to Christine. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting him, he likely left you with a piece of it as well. There weren’t two relationships in his entire life the same, but the love ran deep and got him through the darkest times. Owen had a passion for motorcycles, and his favourite pastime was riding on any open road, touring around from town to town, visiting all the amazing souls that he crossed paths with. He had an incredible crew over the years - Lawrie, Ronny, Barry, Wimpy (Irene), Animal, Rob (Rita), Brenda, Karen, RC, Pooky Bear, Lenard, Tracey, Kevin, Sarah (Jason) and Miles to name a few. If Owen could be summed up in one sentence, it would be; that he would take his last $5 and feed you first. He was a real life Robin-hood, with a heart of gold. He had a sparkle in his eye that would melt your heart and smile that lit your soul on fire. Owen is survived by his children, Trish and her sons, Braxton & Skyler; Tara (Mike) and their children, Mikey, Cali, Emma & Colty (his baby twin); Kathryn (Seth) and their sons, Kash and Tripp; Wesley; brother, Gary (Marie); sisters, Lois (Bryan) and Susie (Donald); Brother In Law, Donnie, cousin, Craig; as well as so many other relatives and countless others whose hearts he captured. ❤ Rest Easy Odie ❤ Welcome Home ❤ .
