Obituary of Edwin Frank Stang

Please share a memory of Edwin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edwin Frank Stang was born on July 23, 1935 to Katherine (Kohlman) and John Stang. He was the third oldest of six children. He grew up on the farm, so farming was always in his blood. Eddie attended Elk School until the age of 13 when he quit to help on the farm. He began his working career as a hired man for Woosters and Constantinoffs. He also built roads for the RM of Grass Lake and RM of Hearts Hill. Edwin married the love of his life, Rosemarie Weinkauf, on October 14, 1963. They were married for almost 57 years and together they raised four children; Anita, Dale (Darlene), Daryl (Maureen), and Kevin. Eddie and Rose farmed together with his brother Alex and wife Judy on the homestead near St. Donatus until they moved to town in 1990. After this, Eddie could still be found helping Dale and Alex’s son, Leon, on the farm. Driving school bus was one of the jobs Eddie liked best; the kids on his bus were lucky to have a warm and caring driver to greet them in the morning and take them home in the afternoon. Fifteen years ago, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, but it did not affect his sense of humor. He remained at home under the care of Rose and Anita until November 2019 when he moved to Provost Long Term Care Home. He passed away on July 24, 2020 – one day after his 85th birthday. He didn’t get to celebrate his birthday the way he deserved, so today we will celebrate his life. Eddie was a member of several organizations. He was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, served on the Credit Union and Co-op boards, school board, and St. Donatus Parish Council. Grandpa will be missed by his grandchildren, Devin (Tianna), Tamara (Nathan), Kayla, Tori, Reanne, Mishaela, Colton (Alexandra), Lane, Shelby, Adine, Paige, and Carson; his great-grandchildren, Thea, Jade, and Ella. He is survived by his sisters, Rosemarie Herbst, Madeline (Jerry) Wulff, Irene (Edmund) Stang, and Angie (Robert) Steuerwald; his in-laws, Judy Stang, Eleanora Brost, Hilda Feser, Agnes Rolheiser, Augustine Stang, and Pauline (Denis) Wildeman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Katherine Stang; parents-in-law, Reinhold and Barbara Weinkauf; brother, Alex Stang; in-laws, Doug Rissling, Otto Weinkauf, Pius Brost, Gabe Feser, John Rolheiser, Bruno Stang, Ron and Angie Weinkauf. A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Macklin, Saskatchewan. Interment will follow at the Lakeview Cemetery.
