William G. Stang was born on October 19, 1940 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to parents Rose and Adolf Stang. He was the seventh of eleven children born to this family. William attended Bride School and Macklin School during his childhood and teen years. William met Marjorie Reichert and the two were wed on December 1, 1965. Together they raised 3 sons, Dean, Gary and Wade, on the family farm just south of Macklin. William surrounded himself with farming his entire life. In the summer months, he enjoyed taking in the rodeos, especially the chuckwagons and parades. He also enjoyed spending his summers camping and fishing. William was part of the Macklin Senior Mohawks Executive for several years. In addition to this, he received a lifetime achievements award in January of 2020 from the Macklin Wildlife Federation. He also spent many years travelling to all the nearby towns for discing bonspiels. William and Marjorie were happily married for nearly 56 years and were blessed with eight grandchildren, Cole, Summer, Ashley, Aiden, Blake, Myles, Nate, and Ava. Grandpa Willie loved watching his grandchildren play sports. Some of his favourites included ball, hockey, and dance. It didn’t matter what sport, Willie made time to watch and support his grandchildren and great nieces & nephews in their lives. Willie always had a smile on his face and loved visiting at the arena or when out for coffee with neighbours and friends. At home, while sitting in his chair, he always had room on his lap for his grandchildren, or a dog, and he always had a story to share. His patience and kindness were immeasurable. With his family by his side, Willie passed away on July 25, 2021 at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 80 years. Willie will be forever loved and missed by his wife of nearly 56 years, Marjorie; sons, Dean and his children, Aiden and Ava; Gary (Lisa) and their children, Cole, Ashley and Myles; and Wade (Aeron) and their children, Summer, Blake and Nate; brothers, Phillip (Joanne) and Ben (Wendy); sister, Josie (Louis); brothers in law, George; and sisters in law, Marie and Augustine; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. William was predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Noella (Ron), Silver (Tedi), Bruno, Theresa, Othmar (Mary), Joe, Adolph “Sonny”; and sister in law, Mary. A Private Family Service will be held with interment at the Lakeview Cemetery, Macklin, Saskatchewan.
