Obituary of Dennis Alan Read

Dennis Alan Read was born in Provost, Alberta to Harry and Phyllis Read on June 29, 1944. He went to school in Provost, Alberta and after school, he earned a certificate in heavy duty mechanics. Dennis farmed on his family farm all his life. He was a smart and innovative farmer, always interested and informed in the latest agricultural developments. Dennis was a grain farmer and he raised cattle as well and was kept busy all four seasons. He enjoyed playing sports in his youth, and continued to enjoy watching sports. He was interested in politics and current events and never missed watching the news (and the weather). He stayed in touch with his family, friends and neighbours and was always ready to discuss, listen and help whenever he could. His phone line quite often rang “busy”! Dennis passed away on October 23, 2021 at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 77 years. Dennis will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a good neighbour and friend. Dennis will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Marti; two children, Sandra Read and Craig Read; one grandson, Oliver Vye; one brother Robin (Phyllis) Read; brothers-in-law, Dave (Dale) Moore, Ray (Maureen) Moore, Pat (Maureen) Moore, Don (Rita) Moore, Ken (Keila) Moore; and sister-in-law, Barb Moore; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Phyllis Read, and brothers-in-law Lloyd, Harry and Charlie Moore. A private family Graveside Service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Provost Cemetery, Provost, Alberta.
