Obituary of Hilda Frazier
Please share a memory of Hilda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Who was Hilda Frazier? She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, an immigrant, a friend and so much more.
Hilda was born in Ulrum Groningen, Holland on May 25, 1945. She was born one of six kids to Willem “Bill” and Grietje “Grace”. In 1952, Hilda and her family came to Halifax, Nova Scotia and from there the family moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta. Hilda went to school in Sherwood Park when she wasn't working hard on the family farm.
In 1975 Hilda met Allan “Ross” and the two of them fell in love and were married in snowstorm in December of 1976. It was then that she became a mother to Glenn. The family of three was, over the years, joined by many pets that were almost members of the family too! Hilda's family grew when Glenn came home with a girlfriend Kristine and grew some more when Mikhail came along and grew once again when Connor was born. Her love of pets continued even after she moved into the Hillcrest Lodge. Thor, her son and grandkids dog, was just as spoiled as any pet could be and he loved her just as much.
Hilda always enjoyed being in her garden and greenhouse. There were years that Hilda and Ross were feasting on fresh vine-ripened tomatoes in March because of her efforts. But Hilda's talents weren't only in the garden, she could wield a mean crochet hook! Hilda was a master of crafting with yarn and filled many a bin of cute crafts, cozy blankets and more.
The life that Hilda lived wasn't always easy. She had problems with her health that kept her from doing some things and she had a lot of loss in her life.
Hilda passed away on October 20, 2021, at the Red Deer Reginal Hospital at the age of 76 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Grace and Bill; siblings, Neil, Willie and Evelyn and her husband, Allan “Ross”.
Hilda was loved by those that knew her and she will be greatly missed.
