Obituary of Arvid Ralph Paulgaard

Arvid Ralph Paulgaard was born November 11th, 1931 to Lars & Gunhild Paulgaard. He grew up on the farm south of Provost with five brothers Paul, Ole, Mel, Donnie, & Lawrence; and one sister, Ellen. Arvid married the love of his life, Allene Hager, in November of 1953 and together they raised seven children on a mixed grain, cattle, pigs, and chicken farm by Cadogan. He taught his family the love of farming and country life and instilled the importance of taking care of the land and animals. The couple moved to Provost to retire, but Arvid still spent many years going back to the farm, Brent’s farm, and Brenda’s farm, to give a helping hand. This was a core quality of Arvid’s; he was always there to offer help to his family when he was able. With his family by his side, he went to be with his dear Lord Jesus, on March 19, 2022 at the age of 90 years. Arvid leaves to mourn his wife of 68 years, Allene; children, Robin (Doug) Rawling, Wendy (Ed) Roste, Brenda (John) Sullivan, Brent (Charlene), Carolyn (Chris) Baier, Marty (Yvonne), Jonathan (Helene); grandchildren, Mark (Jess), Shelly (Kenny), Allison (Bjorn), Jenna (David), Michael (Michele), Breanna (William), Kristy (Chase), Jamie, Sarah (Ellis), Dustin (Ashley), Amanda (Leo), Matthew (Rachelle), Stephanie (Leighton), Selena, Rachelle, Tryton, Ashley (Jamie), Scott (Tess), Lukas, Alexa, and Niko; 49 great grandchildren; sister, Ellen Berg; brother, Lawrence (Penny); sisters in law, Gretel Hager, Carol (Floyd) Johnson, Catherine (Anthony) Lawrence, Dixie (Henry) Sliger and Jackie; brother in law, Graham (Susan) Hager; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their extended families that we are very important to Arvid. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Paul (Thelma), Ole (Olea), Mel (Marion), and Donnie; parent in laws, Frank and Madge Hager, and brothers in law, Dale Hager, Brian Hager, and Gordon Berg. A private family graveside was held on Monday, March 28, 2022 at the Provost Cemetery. A memorial service in honour of Arvid will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lutheran Church in Provost, Alberta. Pastor Paul McCormick officiating.
