Duane Alfred Schug was born April 10, 1966, in Provost, Alberta to Dennis & Louise Schug. Duane had 2 siblings, an older brother, Warren and a younger sister, Joanne (Baier). Duane met the love of his life in 1986, Shelly Gerling and was married for 25 years. Together they raised four daughters, Shania, Tayna, Mattea, & Aliya. They lived & farmed just 10 miles South of Provost and helped run the family farm with his father; Dennis; uncle, Alvin; and brother; Warren. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas for all of High School & continued to Lakeland College for welding. He was a hard worker and always had a million jobs on the go. Everyone that came by always knew to look in the shop first. Although he never liked to leave the shop, he enjoyed vacations and family get togethers with his loved ones. In his spare time he enjoyed curling, sledding, riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, taking trips to the mountains to go skiing, and spending time with his friends and family. He was the kind of guy that could always sit and make someone feel welcome. Duane had a contagious laugh that would brighten everyone’s day. He was well known for telling jokes, playing pranks, and telling his spontaneous life adventures. He had an amazing sense of humor and was the life of the party. On March 7, 2021, Duane became a proud Grandfather to Clyde Cornelssen. His pride and joy was his family and the farm. Duane passed away unexpectedly March 23, 2022 on the farm, in Provost, Alberta at the age of 55. He will be forever missed by his wife, Shelly; daughters, Shania (Cody) Cornelssen and their son, Clyde; Tayna, Mattea (Caelan), and Aliya; mother, Louise; brother, Warren (Myrna); sister, Joanne (John) Baier and their children, Courtney, Cole (Jenesta), Kaitlyn, Brendan; as well as many relatives & close friends.
