Donatus Arthur Dewald was born on August 24, 1944 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to Pete and Rose Dewald. He was the oldest of 11 children and attended the Edenview School. Don met Marie Wiesner and they were married on June 28, 1965. Together, they farmed north of Cactus Lake where they also raised their four children, Michelle, Nancy, Dean, and Melinda. They retired from farming in 2008 and moved into Denzil. Don was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching all of their extra curricular activities. As his family grew, this turned into a full-time job. Although busy with family, Don always found time to spend with his other loves; chuckwagon races and rodeos. He spent countless hours driving, judging, and cheering on the drivers. Don also enjoyed spending his time at the casino and playing countless hours of canasta with friends and family. In addition to his immediate family, extended family was very important, particularly his siblings and their children. Don was also well known for inviting many others into his family throughout his life. If anyone needed a family, he would be sure to bring them in. Don’s faith was evident through the example of the way he lived. He will be incredibly missed. Surrounded by his family, Don passed away on April 12, 2022 at the age of 77 years at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan after a brief battle with complications due to Covid.
