Reginald "Reg" Golding passed away on October 17, 2022 at the Provost Health Centre Long Term Care at the age of 82 years.

A funeral for Reg will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lutheran Church in Provost, Alberta with Pastor Paul McCormick officiating. A private family interment will take place at the Wainwright Cemetery.

Reginald John Golding was born on February 16, 1940 in Wainwright, Alberta to parents, Allan and Eva Golding. At the age of 5 years old, Reg lost his father at the end of the second world war. He started working at a very early age for neighbours and for his uncle, Ashton Golding.

Reg attended the Wainwright school and would work on the weekends. He worked on the rigs for a while until he was injured on the job which left his hands with part of a missing pinky and some crooked fingers. His dream was to farm but he wasn’t able to afford to get into agriculture that way, so he did the next best thing, he found a job at the grain elevators.

In 1962, Reg married Cheryl Sutton. They were blessed with being able to adopt two young children, Richard and Twilah. Later on, in 1973, their son Shane was born. Reg bought three quarters of land in Leask, Saskatchewan where he built a small one room house with a loft. Reg long distance farmed on the weekends from Provost until 1989. In 1990, Reg and Cheryl decided to divorce.

Reg placed an ad in the Western Producer in hopes of finding companionship. This is where he met Luce. The two had a long distance, whirlwind romance. In June of 1990, Luce moved to the Provost area where she and Reg ended up buying an acreage east of Hayter. The two were married on January 19, 1991.

Reg and Luce began a 32 year blissful life together. Reg loved the acreage, his horses, calves, pigs, and chickens. He also loved planting big gardens every year. Reg enjoyed making pancakes with the grandchildren, teaching them to drive the ½ ton, reading stories, taking them to Cadogan to see Santa, and picking pussy willows and crocuses for granny.

Reg was a one in a million son, father, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle.

Reg will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Luce; sons, Richard Golding and Shane Golding; daughter, Twilah (Kerry) Newman; stepdaughter, Carol Nordvall (James MacDonald); grandchildren, Noelan Williams, Harrison Newman, Coulton (Ally) Newman, Brendon Fulgham (Val Marion), Brittany Fulgham (Myles Pitre), and Devin Fulgham; great grandchildren, Nevaeh Kushnirak, Emma Fulgham, Nikolas Rockburn and Amiya Pitre; sister, Shirley Forrest; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Reg was predeceased by his parents, Allan, and Eva; stepfathers, Donald Forrest and Kenneth Moffat; sister, Dorothy McAllister; brothers, Wayne Golding, George Golding, and Garry Forrest.
