Obituary of Bob Specht
Please share a memory of Bob to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert “Bob” Specht was raised on the original homestead in the Rosenheim District south of Provost. By age 16, he was a full-time farmer and within a few years started buying feeder cattle. This soon sent him well on his way to establishing his feedlot business.
In 1978, Bob and Lois (Spencer) were married and together they expanded the business. Bob was a permanent cattle buyer at Provost Livestock Exchange as well as auction markets in the surrounding area. He soon gained the reputation and respect in the cattle industry acquired by few and continued to buy cattle until his passing.
Bob was a skilled handyman and could repair just about everything. He liked to construct products using wood, including portions of their cedar home.
Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, curling and slo-pitch but his true passion was grain farming and the feedlot – two skills he perfected.
Bob passed away on March 23, 2023, in Palm Desert, California at the age of 76 years.
He will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Lois; daughter, Heather (Dan) Schmick and their children, Austin, and Jorja; daughter, Sandi Specht (Zane Gardner) and their son, Lucas; son, Michael (Larissa) Specht and their children, Nireyn, and Nash.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Lavina Specht; and sister, Gail MacKay.
A Funeral Service for Bob will take place on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at the Provost Recreation and Cultural Centre.
