Obituary of Mark Lawrence Fraess

Please share a memory of Mark to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mark Fraess was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on July 25, 1970, to Irene (Tetreault) and Edmund Fraess. Mark grew up in Wilkie, Saskatchewan with his three older siblings. He went to St. George elementary and McLurg High School where he met many of his lifelong friends. Mark went on to post-secondary school to attend a Petroleum Engineering course. During this time, he met the love of his life, Carolyn Stabbler. They got married two years later on August 13, 1994. Together, Mark and Carolyn moved to Macklin, Saskatchewan in 1996 and made this town their home from then on.

Mark was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. He was a devoted coach for many years of baseball, fastball, and hockey. He was one of the most kind-hearted, fun-loving guys around and he sure loved a good cold Boh beer. Mark was also passionate about cooking and took great pride in feeding many people throughout his years.

Mark was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma on November 29, 2022, and fought his hardest up until his last days. Surrounded by his family, Mark passed away on June 26, 2023, at the Unity Health Centre at 52 years of age.

Mark will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 28 years, Carolyn; their children, Breanna (Jonah) Kopp, Josef and Nathaniel; mother, Irene; brothers, Daryl (Richard Reid), Trevor (Brenda) and their children, Jesse and Mathias; sister, Maureen (Blair) Davidson and their children, Aaron (Kendall) with their children, Whitley and Camilla; Ashley (Andrew) Krieger with their child, Finley; mother and father-in-law, Ernie and Cathy Stabbler; sister-in-law’s, Jolene and her daughter, Julia DeCiutiis, and Carissa Stabbler; along with many more family and friends.

Mark was predeceased by his father, Edmund Fraess; grandparents, Ludvina and Mathias Fraess, Leontine and George Tetreault and nephew, Douglas Davidson.

Mark’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Louise Peterson, NP, Dr. Lyle Williams, Dr. Kelsey Lazar and all the staff at the Unity Health Centre who took care of Mark in his last months.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Macklin Credit Union Legacy Centre, 5201 Highway 31, Macklin, Saskatchewan.
