Obituary of Mary Doetzel

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary was born on May 20, 1930 to Jacob and Anna (Schafer) Mildenberger. She was the second youngest in a blended family of 13.

As a young girl she worked and helped on her family farm, which was just down the road from where she met the love of her life, Leo Doetzel. Leo and Mary were married on October 23, 1950 and were blessed with 9 children.

Mary’s life was dedicated to her faith and family. She was blessed with many talents from knitting, crocheting, sewing, baking, cooking, gardening, music and still managed to help with chores on the farm and host many family gatherings. Fresh baking and home cooked meals seemed to appear out of nowhere and no one ever left hungry. Anyone who came to the farm or her house in town was able to see her love of gardening which was so evident by the display of flowers in her yard.

But what brought Mary the most joy and happiness was her love for her family and friends. Her heart and home were always open to anyone. This love went above and beyond and we are all so blessed to have had such a wonderful mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend. She had the biggest heart filled with so much love for all who had the pleasure and honor of knowing her.

Surrounded by her family, God came to take Mary home to be reunited with her heavenly family on September 2, 2023.

Mary will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her children, Joe+ (Bernie & Ron Erker); and their children, Jaron (Danielle) and Janessa (Erik); Geraldine+ (Art Rehman+) and their children, Lynn (Curtis), Leah (Niel) and A.J.
