Sharlene was a sweet little girl who had a bright smile that was part of her into the later years. She was the flower girl for our wedding and in spite of her shyness, walked down the isle throwing her flower petals along the way. Knowing her all these years has been special as she was special. We know she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. To her family, she is leaving behind a loss that can’t be filled. We’re so sorry she left this world so soon and all that loved her.

My dear Cousin Sharlene I am so sad to be writing down my memories of us.
You were so proud to carry my books to the school bus when I lived with your family. You were in grade 2 I was in grade 9. You always told me it made you feel so important. You were always important.
We became quite close during that time and the closeness carried on to adulthood.
You were a very private person. You would share some conversations in absolute confidence with me.
We would dance with all the cousins at family functions. You would laugh and smile the whole time.
The summers that we would have Patrick come and spend a couple weeks with us allowed you and I to get two good visits in. You were always so proud to drop Patrick off with us and maybe get a visit in with uncle Bob. He always made you feel beautiful and loved. Ray always welcomed your presence in our home.
I remember the time you came to the Fringe Fest in Edmonton just to meet Darcy. That was very special to you both.
The times we would meet in Brooks at the lake or Hockey training. We always seemed to have fries and gravy for a snack.
The times I came to your home I was always welcome and we had great visits.
Albeit this last couple years since your mom passed. COVID stuff, we drifted apart but I thought of you often.
Rest in Peace Dear Cousin. Just know that this world was a better place with you in it.
My hearfelt condolences to all the Young family and your precious grandchildren. I am so glad you were able to experience being a grandma.
My heartfelt condolences to Kenny. He will carry you in his heart forever.
My heartfelt condolences to Kat. You and she were able to connect later in life and enjoy a great relationship.
Your happiness and zest for life showed always through your infectious smile and laughter.
I will always remember you Sharlene.

I am very sad to be sharing a memory of my cousin Sharlene who was way too young. She had the most infectious smile every time we met up at a family gathering. Sharlene was always up to dance with all us girl cousins and if we could we would have danced as long as someone had music for us. To Carl and the boys my deepest condolences go out to you from me and my girls Miranda and Makenzie. To Kenny….thank you sooo much for informing me of Sharlene’s situation as it allowed me one last chance to message Sharlene myself and send her some videos and pics that hopefully put a smile on her face. I will be there to comfort you in this difficult time. Love you so much❤️
Rest in Peace my beautiful cousin.
Your cousin Brenda

Sharlene was one of the first cousins we met when my husband found his birth family. Her kindness and acceptance helped ease the nerves we were feeling at that time. She will be missed. Our deepest condolences to the family and her friends.
