Obituary of Anne Chandler

Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

On April 5, 2024, Anne Chandler passed away surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her partner, Linda Dalsin; her children, Rosie (Cris), John (Brittany), and Harry (Rebecca); grandchildren, Aria, Theo, Frankie and Griffen. Anne is also survived by her sister Mary (Ken); niece, Anna (Adam); nephew, Lewis; and grandniece, Millie; all from England.

Annie was predeceased by her parents, John & Sheila Phipps.

Annie grew up on a dairy farm in Gloucester, United Kingdom. After completing University she headed to Africa to teach for three years. This had been her life long dream. Her passion for the people and country of Nigeria was instilled. Soon after her return home she married and raised a beautiful family on a farm in the Cotswolds. Many of her happiest memories shared are of these family times.

Always embracing adventure, the family moved to Canada to farm near Camrose for several years. The Chandlers enjoyed Canadian life playing hockey, skating, skiing, trail rides, and rafting.

Annie then moved to Edmonton and earned a Masters in Educational Psychology. She taught English to new Canadians at One World One Centre. Her passion for her teaching was evident in the love and respect she earned from both students and colleagues.

Anne’s generous warmth and smile made everyone feel welcome. She was fun loving and her passion for travel has taken her to a number of countries. Many will remember her for her generosity and support. Her wit and eccentricity were part of what made her so unique.

Upon retirement, Anne involved herself in gardening, sailing, writing, travel planning, but most importantly, her family. Spending time with her grandchildren was paramount.

A special thank you to Dr. Peter Brindley and the staff of Unit A4A ICU, University of Alberta hospital. Their help and support meant so much to all of us.

Thank you to the HOPE Team who supported and guided us. We are all comforted knowing Annie will live on through others who received the gifts of life.
