Obituary of Helfrid Victoria MacGregor

On April 17, 2013 Mrs. Helfrid MacGregor of Provost, Alberta, formally of Sedgewick, Alberta, passed away peacefully at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 92 years. Helfrid was born June 1, 1920 in Fauske, Norway to Jens and Lovise Osback. She was the youngest of four children, Ernest, Sigrid and Jennie. She and her family immigrated to Canada in 1922. She married Kenneth Grant MacGregor on May 16, 1941. They raised a family of seven children, Bruce, Doug, Louise, Sheila, Jill, Rod and Peggy on her parents homestead north of Sedgewick. Helfrid was pre-deceased by her husband, Grant in 1969 and her oldest son, Bruce in 2010. Helfrid moved off the farm in 1977 and Sedgewick was her home until she moved to the Vialta Lodge in Viking in 2001. In 2008, she moved to Provost where she lived her final years surrounded by family and friends. Helfrid dearly loved her family and was so proud of each and every one of them. She lived her life with integrity and her faith was forefront to her. She found comfort in reading her Bible and her family knew they were in her daily prayers. She will forever be in the hearts of her children, their spouses, 16 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren that she knew would be arriving soon. Her legacy will live on through her family.
