You were a very special and wonderful Doctor. So many memories. We can't thank you enough for all that you did. You always went the extra mile to make sure that everything that could be done was done, to get to the bottem of our health issues. Will definately miss the Dr. visits with you, how we laughed and joked around, you would tease us about shooting the Eagle in the back yard, and the dog in the front yard. Now when I look at these two statues, I will remember the special memories, that I have of you. It's so hard to believe that you are gone. Your strength and determination was incredible, never putting yourselve first, always your patients. You struggled for a long period of time, and yet you could still smile and make a joke with us. No one will ever fill the position that you held. You were a man of great compassion, devotion,
and you had a heart of gold. In my eyes you were not only a great Dr. but you were also a Hero, that I will always look up to. Spending long hours at your clinic, you were definately dedicated to your career. At this time I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family. Dr. Visser will be forever missed

Pieter and Lettie came into our lives through Pieter's work at Edam. He was a wonderful physician to our mother, a friend to our family. We had many laughs at Pieter's face when he was told he had to do dishes after Christmas supper! He would go out cutting wood with our father and also was a part of the fabric of our family. My father, who was in failing health, insisted that he 'drop by' Pieter and Lettie's home two years ago. It was as if we had talked just yesterday. He will be missed. My sympathies to Lettie, Janine and Jondre. I know there wasn't a prouder father!
With love,
Pat

In the spring of 1991, I was pregnant with our third child and living in Meadow Lake. There was talk of the nurses in that hospital going on strike around my due date in April. I was visiting in Edam, where Pieter and Lettie lived and where he was practising. They had gotten to know our family quite well by then and when he found out about the potential strike said, "If the strike moves forward, don't hesitate to come to Edam; I will deliver your baby, no worries." Jayden was born in Meadow Lake in the end but we took great comfort in knowing that Pieter was there for us if we needed him. We knew him to be very compassionate and a doctor who sincerely cared for his patients. Being a doctor was without a doubt his calling. He made it very clear that delivering babies was his favorite part of the job; he called it "catching babies".
Once they had moved to Wainwright, Natasha, our oldest then 18, needed her tonsils out. We knew who we wanted to look after her; travelled to Wainwright the night before and stayed with Pieter and Lettie and had the surgery the next day. That is the kind of family they were, going above and beyond. A few years later, Pieter was Jayden's doctor for the same surgery. We knew that they were in good hands with Pieter. He cared so much; he was more than a doctor to our family, Pieter, Lettie and their 2 beautiful children have become life long friends whom we think of as part of our family. Pieter always called our Dad "Uncle John" right up until the last time he and Mom visited him in the fall. There is no question that he is in heaven. We find some comfort in knowing that his suffering is over. Having said that, there is an emptiness that we feel with his passing. His good nature, sense of humour and wonderful stories will always be missed and remembered. We feel so honoured to have known Pieter, Lettie, Janine, and Jeandre. Our lives are richer for that. God Bless

A Poem I read in a book I Just finished on Friday that has touched my Heart on hearing of Dr. Visser's Passing. We were so lucky to have had him as our Families Doc. Many Laughs, Tears, and Memories of the last 15 years.
When tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;
I wish so much that you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things,
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too;
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an Angel came and called my name,
And took me by my hand,
And said my place was ready,
In heaven far above
And that I had to leave behind
All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die.
I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do,
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
The thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did
My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates
I felt so much at home
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,
He said,"This is Eternity,
And all I promised you.
Today your life on earth is past
But here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way,
There's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven
And now at last your free.
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?"
So when tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart,
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.
Our Sincere Sympathy to Dr.Visser's Family and Susan and her Family
Dean,and Shaleen Marshall and Family

Lettie, Janine, and Jeandre, There are no words to express the sadness we felt when we heard that Pieter had passed away. We prayed so fervently for a miracle as I am sure you all did, that he would be healed. We take some comfort in knowing that his suffering is finally over and he is at peace. We can't imagine how difficult the last months have been for you all, to see someone you love so much go through so much pain. Please know that we continue to pray for you; that somehow, someway, you can find some comfort and healing in knowing how much Pieter was loved and respected by so many people. Lettie, Janine and Jeandre, your courage and devotion to Pieter is such an inspiration to us all. We are always here for you. God Bless.

A sadness and emptiness has filled our hearts with the word of Dr. Visser's passing. He was John's "Doc" for many years and there are no words to express the attentive and compassionate care he received. Together, they forged not only a Dr./Patient relationship but a true understanding and respect for each other. When Pieter first told John about his cancer, Anne came home to find John in tears. It broke his heart to think Pieter was that ill. We will always remember Pieter's support when John became ill in the USA in 2011. His encouragement and command of the situation was a God send. Pieter will always hold a special place in our hearts and our love and sincere sympathy are with Lettie and his entire family.

During our discussions over numerous years we were able to get to know Pieter, his love of his family and what a truly caring individual he was. During his fight with cancer he was still always there to assist his patients in anyway he could with a smile and of course in a joking manner which we loved so much. This town has lost one of it's truly dedicated doctors that lived to cure and truly gave until he no longer could.
