Obituary of Pieter Johannes Visser

On April 20, 2013 Dr. Pieter Visser of Wainwright, Alberta passed away at the age of 53 years with his family by his side following a courageous battle with cancer. Pieter was born on May 12, 1959 in the city of Windhoek & raised in the rural communities in South Africa. Pieter was the second of three sons born to Willem and Helena Visser. Pieter attended and graduated from the University of Stellenbosch initially with a degree in agriculture which in turn led him to continue on to achieve his degree in medicine. While attending the University of Stellenbosch, Pieter would meet his future wife, Lettie Du Preez. Pieter and Lettie were married on June 29, 1985 in Stellenbosch. Together Pieter & Lettie had two children, Janine born December 19, 1992 in Worcester, South Africa and Jeandre born March 17, 1998 in St. Albert, Alberta. In February of 1998, Pieter and his family moved to Wainwright, where Pieter would establish and practice medicine for the rest of his career. Pieter will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Lettie; children, Janine and Jeandre; mother, Lena Visser; brother, Willem (Marie) Visser; parents in law, Jannie and Tinka Du Preez; brother in law, Gert Du Preez; sisters in law, Rosa Visser, Henriette Du Preez and Roeline (Paul) Bosma; nieces & nephews, Rosa, Willem-Hendrik, Ricus, Charlotte, Anel, Bernard, Ruben and Emma; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Pieter was predeceased by his father, Willem Visser; brother, Cobus Visser and brother in law, Antony Kleineibst.
