Obituary of Wilfred Raymond Rolheiser

Please share a memory of Wilfred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wilfred Raymond Rolheiser (Fred) was born January 4th, 1941. He was the seventh child in a family of sixteen. Fred grew up on the farm at St. Donatus, in the Cactus Lake District. He attended Panama School for eight years. There was no opportunity for him to further his education so he joined the workforce at an early age. He worked for local farmers until it became necessary to return to the family farm. Fred and his brother George farmed there together for close to 50 years before retiring to Macklin, SK. At this time Fred's health was already failing. His cancer lasted six years and he passed away, at 73 years of age, from complications related to this disease. He was a pillar of the St. Donatus church community, helping in every way, especially in the music ministry. He was a Past Grand Knight of the Macklin Council. Fred managed a fastball team for several years and kept the umpires on their toes with his rule book. He was a formidable opponent in any card game, especially Buck. He held a special place in the lives of his nieces and nephews entertaining them with his made up stories and silly tricks. He will be sadly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his brothers; Edwin (Anne), Fr. Wendelin OMI, George, Ken (Linda), Fr. Ron OMI, and Pius (Patty); his sisters; Leona, Maureen, Agnes (Angus), Bea (Cliff), Patti, Luci (Che); sister-in-law, Elizabeth; and brother-in- law, Mark Stang (Rita). He is also loved and dearly missed by nephews and nieces, too many to count. Welcoming Fred into heaven are his parents, George and Mathilda; his sisters, Isabel Stang and Sr. Helen OSU; his brother, Denis; in-laws, David Sieben, Mick Hertz, Arthur Stang; and nephew, David Sieben Jr. Our loving brother never waivered in his faith and faced all obstacles head on with courage unseen by many.
