Obituary of Theodore Leibel
Please share a memory of Theodore to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Theodore "Ted" Leibel was born on September 30, 1936 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to Valentine and Anastasia Leibel. Ted was born the third child of fourteen, eight boys and six girls. Growing up on a farm and in a large family was a strong foundation Ted was very thankful for. At age 7, Ted convinced his grandpa Joseph Klotz to let him take a load of grain to the elevator in Denzil. In addition to taking the grain to town, Ted also backed the horses up to the elevator for the first time that day. It was the beginning of a lifelong love for farming and life on the farm.
Ted went to school in Denzil until he finished his grade 10, when he began to farm full time with his father Valentine. In 1963, Ted landed in the St. Joseph's Hospital in Macklin, Saskatchewan where he would be cared for by his nurse Marie Deml, who in turn he would marry on July 1, 1964 and be married for over 50 years.
Ted and Marie cattle and grain farmed on the Klotz homestead one and a half miles south of Denzil. This is the same home they would raise their family of five children, three girls and two boys.
Ted was known for his love of sports, especially curling and watching his children play hockey. He was actively involved in stock shows and was an ambassador for the community in which he called home for the entirety of his life.
Ted will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Marie; children, John Leibel (Gulea); Anita (Norbert) Oborowsky and their children, Adam (Brandy), Lee (Tera) and Tori; Christina (Darrell) Ozeroff and their children, Brooke and Tyson; Andrew (Leanne) Leibel; Lisa Ross and her son, Elijah; brothers, Norbert (Elsie), Thomas, Robert, Maynard (Carol), William and Michael (Ellen); sisters, Sister Valentia, Josine (George), Imelda, Catherine (Elmer), Elizabeth (Leo) and Theresa (Ralph); sister in law, Sally; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, Valentine and Anastasia Leibel; brother, Steve Leibel; brother in law, Lindley Robertson; great nephew, Zachary Semenoff.
