Obituary of Colby Dale Sieben
Please share a memory of Colby to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Colby Dale Sieben, beloved son of Michelle and Murray, brother to Danielle and Ciara, was born December 4, 1990, at Provost, Alberta.
Colby was a ray of sunshine in our lives. His infectious smile, which he so readily shared, brought love and laughter to those around him. Whenever we had a problem, a healing hug from Colby made us feel safe and protected. Family meant everything to Colby. He never missed a family function if he could help it and was famous for his "tie on the head" dance moves at weddings. Colby had a real connection with his younger cousins. When he showed up they flocked around him and he never got a moment of peace…and he loved it. Colby was an uncle—to three of the luckiest nephews ever. As busy as Colby became with work and enjoying life, he never missed an opportunity to spend time with his boys, whether it was for a birthday, a quick game of no-shirt mini sticks or just a little visit because a few days had passed and he missed them.
He loved to hunt, fish and go camping with his family. Quadding, wakeboarding, hockey, snowboarding, and travelling all began to fill up his spare time over the last few years. Basically anything that involved being with family and friends, Colby took part in.
Colby went to school in Denzil and Macklin. After graduation he attended NAIT in Edmonton, completing his course in Power Engineering. Colby then moved to Cold Lake, where both Danielle, Ciara and their families reside. Colby worked for Cenovus Energy where he not only excelled at his job but also met some of his best friends. Colby was an experienced operator, often referred to as his boss' "#1". He was a valued member of his team and could always be counted on as a co-worker and friend.
In June last year, Colby's life changed a lot when he met Erin Hall at one of our family weddings. After that, he spent many hours on the road between Cold Lake and Edmonton visiting her. We all knew Erin was "the one" - Colby was just so happy. Erin describes Colby as selfless, genuine, "everyone's best friend", and most of all - respectful. He was excited to try new things and see new places. It was on a trip such as this, with Erin, that Colby lost his life on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Red Frog Beach, Bocas del Toro, Panama.
He leaves to mourn his parents Murray and Michelle; sister, Danielle & husband Chris Humble, their sons Hayes and Calder; sister, Ciara & husband Mike Zunti and their son Nash; his girlfriend Erin Hall, "the love of his life"; his Grandmothers: Dorothy Schulmeister and Armella Sieben; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Colby was predeceased by his Grandfathers: John Schulmeister and Leo Sieben; and his Uncle Dale Sieben.
The loss of Colby has shown us pain we never knew existed and strength we never thought possible. We will miss him forever.
Just think…..of stepping on shore, and finding it Heaven…..
of touching a hand, and finding it's God's…..of breathing new air, and finding it celestial…..
of waking up in Heaven and finding it Home.
