Cherie Michelle Ballard was born August 12, 1973 in Kimberley, B.C to Donna and Randy Ballard. Cherie was the youngest child, coming into the family three years after her sister, Christine. Cherie was a kind sole with a huge capacity to give to others. Cherie experienced tragedy early when her father died in April of 1978. Cherie graduated high school at Selkirk Senior Secondary School in 1991 and from there enrolled at East Kootenay Community College's Culinary Arts Program. It was during this time that Cherie welcomed Leo Bozzer as her step father. Upon Cherie's completion in the Culinary Arts Diploma, and internships, she pursued more education by enrolling in the University of British Columbia's Bachelor of Art's Program and earned her Bachelor's Degree in 1999. Cherie re-located to Alberta in 2001 where she began employment at Consort School as an Educational Assistant. Cherie began her career as a Speech-Language Assistant in Consort in 2004 and in 2005 moved from Consort to Wainwright and continued with her work for Alberta Health Services as a Speech-Language Assistant. Cherie passed away while at work on April 15, 2011, with her sister by her side. Her warmth and generosity will be missed by all. Cherie leaves to mourn, her step-father, Leo Bozzer; sister, Christine (Jason) Fischer and their children, Farrah & Paige; grandparents, Olga & Eric Voltz and Edna Ballard; as well as numerous extended family, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
