Obituary of Elsie Tillie Gaida
Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mom grew up on the family farm with her mom, dad, 2 brothers and 4 sisters. In 1945, she married George Gaida and farmed near Hayter where they raised three children. During those years mom loved gardening, square dancing, playing cards and family gatherings. Mom was an active member of the CWL, volunteered at the Candy Cane thrift store and worked at the Provost Nursing home for many years.
When Mom and Dad retired to Provost in 1969, they started travelling, spending winters in Arizona and meeting new friends. In 2008, they moved to the Hillcrest Lodge, starting a new chapter in their lives and bridge became an important past time for Mom.
The love of mom’s life were her 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Family was so important to her, and many celebrations were spent together. She had a genuine love for her family and friends and her strong faith touched the lives of so many. She will be remembered for her hugs, her care and compassion.
Mom received her “angel wings” on October 17, 2021 and passed away peacefully at the Provost Health Centre – Long Term Care at the age of 97 years.
Mom will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Ron (Dauphinee), Ruth (Rob) and Al; grandchildren, Brad, Suzanne (Stuart), Richard (Lisa), James (Sarah), Shannon (Cam), Stacey (Dom), Russ (Hannah) and Dexter (Zuza); great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Chalsdony, Emily, Abby, Ainsley, Aiden, Abigail, Grayson, Jacob and Elliot; sister, Loretta; as well as many nieces, nephews and her good friend, Don.
