Ronald Patrick Raher, beloved husband, brother, brother in law, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 4, 2022 at the age of 64 years, following a courageous battle with cancer. Ron was born on September 28, 1957 to Harold and Elizabeth Raher. Ron grew up in Castor, Alberta with his family. He enjoyed the fun things in life. Playing ball, hockey, golf, countless family camping and fishing trips, chuckwagon racing, going South for the winter, and the odd Rumsicle, more commonly known as Rum & Diet Pepsi. After Ron was done school, he worked for Sunrise Construction and Hornet Construction. In November 1981, Ron started work with Alberta Power in Lloydminster, Alberta where he continued to stay his whole career of 33 years. On July 16, 1983, Ron married the love of his life, Sheila Froland. They lived in Lloydminster until Ron retired from ATCO Electric (Alberta Power) and Sheila’s Daycare in December of 2014. They left Lloydminster and moved to their winter home in Mesa, Arizona, where Ron played ball & more ball & more ball, 100 games in one season. In 2015, they bought a place at Glennifer Lake, Alberta where they stayed for 5 years before they bought their forever home in Metiskow, Alberta. He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Sheila; sisters, Wanda Raher, Linda (Dave) Magnus, and Maryann (Lester) Weseen; brothers, Cliff (Moe) Raher and Sam (Val) Raher; sisters in law, Sherry (Kevin) Laing, Sandra (Joe) Poulin; brothers in law, Peter (Liz) Froland, Russel (Cindy) Froland; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Susan), Luke and Nolan Magnus; Amanda Magnus; Kyle (Allison), Ben and Lauren Raher; Jenna Raher; Jay Raher; Hailie Raher; Alexa Raher; Steven (Leona), Hannah, Leah, Austin and Ella Raher; Kristi (Brandon), Cash and Kane Banks; John Laing; Morgan Laing; Emma Laing; Heidi (DJ), Nathaniel and Kaidenze Short; Sierra (Brennen), Gavin and Jaina Maxwell; Cody (Kara), Kaisen; Marlee Laing; Lanny (Nicole), Jaxin, and Ava Froland; Andrew (Jacy), Claira and Ben Froland; Shelby (Marcel), Issac, Thomas, and Forrest Vulysteke; Samara (Logan), Theodore Campbell; Devon (Jac) Froland; Heather (Devin), Sarah, and Gwen Trennery; Dylan Deck; Brandon Deck; Austin Deck; as well as numerous other friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Elizabeth Raher; father and mother in law, Pete and Sally Froland. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and all the staff at the Provost Hospital who took awesome care of Ron. Your care and effort are greatly appreciated. As per Ron’s request, a private family get together will take place later this fall. Donations are gratefully accepted to the Provost Health Foundation or the charity of the donor’s choice.
