Obituary of Jim Kohlman
Please share a memory of Jim to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James “Jim” Alexander Kohlman was born on July 9, 1954 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to parents, Alex t. & Clementine Kohlman. Jim grew up and farmed in the Grosswerder area his whole life.
In addition to farming, Jim took on numerous other jobs which included breaking quarter horses, short and long hauling, oilfield work and helping at Provost Livestock Exchange. Throughout the years, Jim had many friends in the horse community and took great pride in learning from his mentors Johnny Lisch, Bill Roadhouse, and many others. Jim also took great pride, alongside his brother, Keith, being part of the rodeo committee in Macklin for a few years. He loved his faithful pets over the years, but his last ones were his border collie, Coco Beaner, and quarter horse, Chevy.
After Jim’s first wife Patricia (Reschny) passed away, he married Janice (Brost) with daughter, Stephanie, a stepdaughter he was proud to have. Jim was always proud of his children and their accomplishments.
Farming, cattle, and horses were Jim’s passions, so it brought him a lot of joy when his sons took over and continued to farm the land.
Jim’s brother in laws and friends enjoyed many good times together over the years. All that knew him, knew he liked to use colourful language frequently. Jim enjoyed when his brother-in-law played music. He could listen for hours. Jim was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash – The Man in Black.
Jim was also a talented wood worker, which led to him and Janice building their home. Sadly, with the onset of illness, he couldn’t complete the build. At the age of 61, Jim was stricken with and struggled with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. In 2016, he moved to St. Joseph’s Health Centre.
Jim passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Macklin, Saskatchewan on June 16, 2022, at the age of 67 years.
He will be lovingly remembered and cherished by his wife, Janice; son’s, Jason (Dalyce) and their children, Haylee, Kohen, & Caydence; Shane (Kimberly) and their children, Keaten, Chance, & Kinley; Jon (Tara) and their son, Dao; Cody (April) and their children, Daxon, Camden, & Cruz; Joe (Tiffany) and their children, Tess, Kane, & Sage; step daughter, Stephanie (Derek) Frocklage and their children, Everleigh, Levi, & Brantley; mom, Clementine; brothers, Dan (Carol) and Keith (Lori); sister, Vicki (Wayne) Sletten; mother-in-law, Eleanora Brost; as well as numerous in laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
