Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On April 18, Ronald “Grant” Giggs passed away at the age of 75 years.
Grant is survived and remembered by Beverly, his wife of 48 years; children: Kimberly (Pedro) Rodrigues of Bonnyville, and Jacqueline (Jason) Fox of Kamloops; grandchildren: Emma Cromarty, Gabrielle Rodrigues, and Ryella, Brylee and Colbie Fox; sisters Joan (Calvin) Ferrier and Barbara Flynn; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Ron and Elsie, brother-in-law Waye, and granddaughters Anika Sunshine Cromarty and Avery Skye Fox.
Grant was born the youngest of 3 children on December 19, 1947 to Ron and Elsie Giggs and grew up on a farm south of Chauvin. After finishing school, he worked for the Bank of Montreal in both Chauvin and Fahlar, AB. Work for Northern Telecommunications took Grant to various cities in Canada, including Calgary where he would meet Beverly. They were married July 16, 1974 on his parents farm. Grant spent several years working locally as an operator for enaissance Energy Ltd. Residing on the nearby farm of his grandparents, Grant and Bev farmed with his parents and raised their 2 daughters, who attended the same Chauvin school as their father.
Grant enjoyed outdoor activities and had many adventurous trips through the mountains and northern prairies. His favoured pastimes included fishing, hunting, quad and snowmobile riding,
and gardening, and he spent some of his retirement woodworking in the garage. Many enjoyable hours were spent playing cards with family and neighbours.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
