Obituary of Catherine "Katie" Michelle Welter

Catherine “Katie” Michelle Welter was born on January 10, 1993, to parents, Gerald and Laurie Brost, where she was raised and attended school in Macklin, Saskatchewan. Once leaving high school she graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in Materials Engineering. She then moved back home to marry her husband, Ian. Katie and Ian settled on a farm near Kerrobert, Saskatchewan where they raised their daughter, Emily.
Katie was always dedicated to her career, successfully completing her professional engineering distinction (P.Eng) in November, 2021. Katie was a loving wife, daughter, sister, auntie, cousin and friend to so many but her main pride and joy in life was her daughter, Emily.
Tragically, Katie passed away from this life on Friday, June 23, 2023, at the age of 30 years.
Katie is survived by her husband, Ian and daughter, Emily Welter; parents, Jerry and Laurie Brost; sister, Rachelle Bast; brother in-law, Adam and their daughter, Tatum; brother, Greg Brost and his partner Caitlyn Hanch; grandmothers, Elenora Brost, Catherine Hager-Lawrence and her husband, Tony; father and mother in-law, Gary and Pam Welter; brother and sister in-law, Ryan and Brittany Welter and their three children, Claire, Weston, and Jacob.
Katie was predeceased by her grandfathers, Pius Brost and Brian Hager and uncle, Doug Hager.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 4, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Macklin, Saskatchewan with Father Dan Yasinski & Father Binu Rathappillil officiating.
Immediately following the service, friends and family are invited to the Macklin Credit Union Legacy Centre for a time of fellowship and refreshments.
Katie's service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend. It will be assessable through the GFH website under Katie's obituary at the time of the service.
